• What a royalty isYour decimal share of these volumes, times the price the operator received, minus the deductions the lease allows. The volumes are public; the price and the deductions are on your statement.
• Read the months, not just the yearA shale well declines steeply in its first years. Falling months on a young well are the curve, not a problem; falling months on an old well may be a shut-in or a sale of the well.
• A unit shares the volumeA horizontal well drains a unit of several tracts. Each owner is paid on their acres in the unit, so this well’s total is shared among everyone in it.
• What this does not showWho owns the minerals, what the operator was paid for the gas, or whether anyone was paid at all. If your statements show less than your share of these volumes, ask the operator in writing.

None disclosed. Usual for anything but a shale well.

The surface parcel is the county assessor’s record of who owns the land at the marker. Minerals are often severed from the surface and held by someone else; the parcel is a place to start in the deed index, not an answer.

What this page does and does not tell you

• It does not say who owns the minerals. Only recorded deeds, wills, and estate files do. The mineral owner named on a permit is whoever the operator listed when it filed, often decades ago.
• A completed well is not necessarily producing. Status and year come from state records; the production and sales figures above come from separate, operator-reported filings and are estimates where the page says so.
• Nearby is not yours. A well in the same district is not necessarily producing from your tract. Only a lease, a unit, or a division order ties a well to an interest.
• The location is approximate. A surface point, not a surveyed boundary and not the subsurface path of a lateral.
• Activity is not value. Permits nearby change the odds of future development; they do not by themselves establish what an interest is worth.
